It’s always a good week when we get to introduce a brand-new product — and this one has been a long time coming. After months of feedback, conversations, and requests, we’re thrilled to introduce our Invoicing Beta in Tern!

Why Invoicing Matters

Invoicing has been one of our most-requested features, and it’s not hard to understand why. Travel advisors need flexibility in how they communicate pricing and collect payments from clients. While Tern’s credit card authorization flow has been helpful for specific authorizations, many of you told us that it wasn’t enough. You needed a better way to:

  • Send a clean, itemized invoice before collecting payment
  • Provide documentation for insurance claims or client records
  • Serve clients who prefer (or require) hard copies
  • Make a big step towards full TICO compliance support in Canada

Thanks to your insights, we’re excited to say: now you can do all of that, directly inside Tern.

A Look at the Invoicing Flow - now in beta

Invoicing is now in an "open" beta! That means it's accessible to everyone, but we fully expect to improve it rapidly over time based on your feedback.

Let’s walk through how it works:

  • Easy Generation: From any trip with pricing, you’ll now see a “Generate Invoice” button under the Pricing tab.
  • Add Extra Details: Customize each invoice with additional rich text — perfect for context, disclaimers, or client-specific notes.
  • Auto-Populated Details: The invoice pulls in everything from your brand profile, credentials (like TICO/seller of travel numbers if applicable), and your client’s info — including payment due amounts, authorization links, and payment schedules.
  • Full Sync with Trip Data: Any time you make a change to pricing or payment status, you can regenerate the invoice — and Tern will automatically preserve your invoice number and content while updating the trip details.
  • Easy to Find, Easy to Share: Invoices are automatically saved to the Trip Documents section, and a feature to email invoices directly from Tern is just around the corner.

Additional improvements

In addition to invoicing, we shipped a handful of updates this week to reduce confusion and polish the experience:

  • Landing Page Preview Fixes: Logged-in advisors who click old landing page links will now see the most up-to-date published version of their landing page — matching exactly what your clients see.
  • Authorization Preview Behavior: When previewing credit card flows, the "Back" button now mirrors what your client would experience, making it easier to QA trips before publishing.
  • Internal Tools for Supplier Cleanup: If you’ve got duplicate agency suppliers or mismatched booking data, we now have internal tools to help clean this up without involving engineering. Just reach out — we’re happy to help.
  • Template Fixes: When adding an itinerary with a package to an existing trip, travelers are now automatically added.

We're so grateful for the feedback that made this possible. Keep it coming. Whether it's invoicing, collaboration, or something else entirely — your ideas shape what we build. Stay tuned for next week’s update… there’s more on the way. 🙂
