This week’s updates bring flexible dates for lodging, an improved traveler sign in experience, and some long-awaited quality-of-life fixes across the platform.

Let’s dig into what’s new!

Lodging Gets a Major Upgrade with Flexible Dates

Tern now supports flexible lodging dates, allowing you to define a date window instead of a fixed stay. This is a huge win for group travel - think weddings, retreats, and family reunions - where each traveler may have slightly different arrival and departure needs.

Here’s what’s possible with this update:

  • Set earliest check-in, latest check-out, and a minimum night stay
  • Let travelers choose their own dates within that range
  • Display pricing updates based on their selection

Travelers see all this right from the sign-up flow - and they’re able to select their room, review the price, and authorize payment without needing to email you for date changes or special requests.

If you're handling a large group, this update alone could save you hours of back-and-forth. Learn more.

A Simpler Sign-In Experience for Travelers

We’ve made it easier for travelers to authenticate when accessing sensitive flows like document downloads and credit card authorizations.

Before, users had to copy-paste a code. Now, they can simply click a “magic link” in their inbox to sign in. It works seamlessly across devices and avoids issues with Gmail app quirks that some travelers experienced previously. Learn more.

Quality-of-Life Improvements That Make a Big Difference

Alongside the major feature releases, we’ve rolled out several fixes and enhancements based on direct feedback from advisors. Here are some of the most impactful:

  • Reorder Form Pages: you can now move form pages up and down with a simple menu click—no more dragging fields manually just to reorder your flow.
  • Paid Date Defaults to Local Time: we fixed a time zone bug where marking a booking as paid late at night would incorrectly assign it to the next day. Dates now default to your local time, as expected.
  • Accessibility Update on Forms: the “Add Traveler” button has been updated to clarify that it adds an additional traveler, which should improve navigation for users relying on screen readers.
  • Faster Commission Reporting for Agencies: for our larger agency partners, the Received Commission report has gotten a performance boost. Reports now load faster and more reliably—even with high volumes of data.
  • Smarter Reconciliation with Cancelled + Received Bookings: we no longer hide ‘received’ and ‘cancelled’ bookings when reconciling supplier statements. Instead, we’ll display those below regular bookings in case you need to reconcile them!
  • Custom Flight Titles Now Stick: we’ve also patched a bug where custom flight titles would occasionally get overridden. If you’ve been affected, that issue should now be resolved.

Keep the Feedback Coming

We’re always iterating, and your feedback continues to shape what we build. If you’ve got thoughts on how these new lodging tools are working, or ideas for what you'd love to see next, don’t hesitate to reach out!
