This week in Tern

Package pricing just got more granular, AI chat keeps expanding, and a few quality of life improvements round out the week. Here's what's new.

Itemized package pricing

We’ve upgraded how packages work in Tern. You can now configure individual costs for every item in an itinerary and have them automatically total into a single package price.

How it works:

  • Costs added to bookings add to the package base price but are hidden from clients. They’re for your internal record-keeping and refund tracking only.
  • If an item has options (like room types) or is an optional add-on, the price will be visible to help travelers decide.
  • Once selections are made, everything tucks back into a single, easy-to-read package price.

Package items now show on invoices

Package invoices now include every line item inside the package. Clients see the package name, pricing schedule, and a clear list of what's included.

This pairs with the pricing change above. Together, they remove the guesswork from how packages show up, both to you and to your clients.

AI chat handles group trips and tasks

Two new capabilities in the AI chat beta.

You can now create a group trip directly from chat. Describe the trip (destination, rough timing, any other context) and AI chat will confirm the details and spin up the group trip for you, ready to build out from there.

AI chat can also search, read, and create tasks. Ask what to focus on today and it will surface your most urgent and overdue work. Layer in trip context, like prioritizing tasks for trips traveling soon, and it will reorder accordingly. You can also create new tasks directly from the chat, which is useful when it recommends something and you want to act on it without leaving the conversation.

Both of these are expansions of the existing AI chat beta. We're shipping updates to it every week, and your feedback shapes what comes next.

Quality of life

  • Standalone brand page. Branding (writing style, cover photo, logo, brand color) now lives on its own page, separate from business settings. Changes save automatically.
  • Last name email variable. You can now use recipient last names in your email templates. Find it under the email variables in the Library.
  • Resend pending agency invitations. Agency owners can resend a pending team invite directly from the team page.
  • Project Expedition transfer notes. When a transfer is booked through the Project Expedition integration, supplier notes like meeting point and contact information now pull in automatically and appear at the top of the description.
