Hi there! We’ve rolled out a fresh batch of updates that improve matching to update contact records, support gender on forms, help you manage tags, and more!
Video: Tern Weekly Product Update - 7/24/25 ()
Making Tern More Intuitive for Everyone
We’ve continued our mission to make Tern feel easier to use—especially for newer advisors. Now, when you open parts of the product for the first time, you’ll see helpful “empty states” that guide your next step.
Whether you’re:
Connecting your email for the first time
Creating a task or contact
Trying to collect credit card authorization
You’ll now see built-in tips and quick actions to help you hit the ground running.
One highlight: the Authorizations tab now has a handy quick-add menu—so you can:
Add packages/items
Prep them for authorization
And generate an invoice, all in one smooth flow
Fewer clicks. Faster work.

Smarter Contact Matching (Even Without Emails)
Forms just got a lot more powerful. Now, when a traveler fills out a trip request or contact form and includes additional travelers/contacts, Tern automatically stores their relationship (set to 'other').
If those contacts show up in future forms, Tern will smart-match them based on name and relationship (even if we don't have an email address), rather than creating duplicates. Say goodbye to cluttered contact lists.
Coming soon, we’re also adding a setting you can configure so that only the primary traveler needs to submit an email on these forms.

Our refreshed trip editor is in beta! Thanks to our beta testers, we’ve uncovered a few final tweaks. We expect a full rollout early next week.
Hang tight—it’s worth the wait.
That’s it for this week! As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
